Willy is cooking up some battery love today in Willy's kitchen.  What do you mean Willy?  Well, Willy loves his gadgets and Willy loves his cameras.  With all of these gadgets and all of these cameras, Willy is constantly finding that he can never have enough batteries.

Therefore, to find such things as a Canon camera battery  and a Canon battery charger  to help  Willy always have  a Canon digital camera battery  when Willy needs one, Willy resorts to the place that he goes to find everything but the bathroom and that is the internet.  Yes, Willy believes that you can find everything on the WWW and when Willy's batteries went dead recently, Willy started a search and he looked first at a place that he had been given some information ant that is batteryheads.com. 

Willy was amazed at what he found there.  Willy did not only find the battery that he needed for his camera but he found every type of battery and charger imaginable.  Willy has this site bookmarked now because Willy has so many gadgets with unique batteries that Willy knows it will come in real handy.

Arkansas Razorbacks - Week 4

What is cooking for the Hogs this week.  Alabama is tough and we looked like a bunch of pussy's against Troy.  If the Razorbacks play like that against Alabama it will be a hog slaughter.  You can hear them circling the drain now.

Arkansas should be better.  Before the season started fans felt like we would be great against Alabama.  Now people like Tommy Smith, David Bazzel, Roger Scott  and R.J. Hawk are making bets where they will shave their head depending on who wins, Arkansas or Alabama.

Willy believes that Arkansas will get beat big time even though Willy likes the Hogs.

Glazed Double-Cut Pork Chops

Willy stole this one from the Food Network.   - The Maple Bourbon Glaze caught Willy 's eye.  The chops will have to be good but if not the Bourbon can be made useful.  10-4 Willy

Serve with Smoky Corn on the Cob.

Ingredients

For the Pork:

• Kosher salt
• 1/4 cup coarsely ground black pepper
• 2 tablespoons packed dark brown sugar
• 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
• 4 double-cut bone-in pork loin chops (about 1 pound each)
• Vegetable oil, for the grill

For the Sauce:

• 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
• 2 cups diced onions
• 1 cup apple cider vinegar
• 3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
• 1 1/2 cups ketchup
• 1 1/4 cups apple juice
• 1 cup maple syrup
• 1/2 cup bourbon
• 1/2 cup prunes
• 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
• 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
• Kosher salt and freshly ground
• black pepper

Prepare the pork: Mix 2 tablespoons salt, the black pepper, brown sugar and paprika in a bowl, then rub all over the chops. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate 2 to 4 hours.

Meanwhile, make the sauce: Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then add the onions and cook until translucent, about 4 minutes. Stir in the vinegar and brown sugar until dissolved. Add the ketchup, apple juice, syrup, bourbon, prunes, Worcestershire sauce, cayenne, 1 tablespoon salt and 1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 30 minutes. Puree with an immersion blender or in a regular blender.
Preheat a grill to medium. Brush the grates with vegetable oil, then place the chops directly over the flame and grill until marked and cooked halfway through, about 15 minutes. Turn the chops and place on a cooler area of the grill (such as the edges); cover and cook until a thermometer inserted into the thickest part registers 140 degrees F to 145 degrees F, 15 to 20 minutes. Uncover and brush the chops on all sides with the prepared sauce, then cover and cook until glazed, about 5 more minutes. Transfer to a cutting board and brush with more sauce. Tent with foil and let rest 10 minutes. Serve with more sauce.

Taco Kit

Willy's wife has been ill and Willy is relegated to doing most of the cooking at home.  So guess what Willy might cook?

Tonight, Willy made the great Taco Supper.  Yes, it was great because it was easy, quick, and partial take out.  The Tacos consisted of a Taco Kit from the Market.  Willy cooked ground meat with a sauce from the kit.  Willy then heated up taco shells in the oven.  Willy then had cheese dip and chips that were from Faby's close by. 

Willy finished it up and declared - it is done.  Willy's wife ate the tacos along with chips and dips.

Good food and easy.

American Experience" Best Documentary Series

History has always been a favorite subject of mine, especially American history so it's an easy call for my favorite series. It has to be “American Experience.” It always manages to relate the past with the present, like airing a special on Martin Luther King, Jr. around his holiday. The series covers all aspects of American life, political, social and cultural. It is separate from the series “American Masters” but sometimes features artists and their work. Mostly, however, the material tries to focus on subjects that cut a wide swath through the national identity. It takes on wars and depressions and presidential campaigns, putting them center stage again for a little analysis. I have HD on my satellite TV with channels that www.directstartv.com and it makes old footage look vibrant. I also have surround sound and the audio production is exceptional. When they do a war-related program it puts you in the cockpit.

The “American Experience” always has the iconic pictures of history mixed with some that are new to the public. It is a plus that the shows are presented without commercials, especially the 90-minute or 2-hour specials. This really gives the feel of a movie documentary. When you think of PBS you think educational and I'm certain the “American Experience” could be used in the classroom as a teaching tool. It is that good.

 Willy is cooking up some home security today.  Willy is more specifically looking at home security hollyridge.  Where is this you ask.  Well it it is in Hollyridge SC.  This all has to do with Advanced Direct Security which is an ADT authorized company.

What does it have to do with satellite TV is still a little bit of a mystery to this intelligent hillbilly writer.  The website does not say anything that Willy can see.  However, Willy deduces that the monitoring is entering the building by satellite.  What do you think?

Diets

Willy is getting too fat and Willy is trying to diet to lose weight.  The diet includes protein and some type of potatoes or rice in the morning.   Snacks in morning and afternoon of protein and fruit and then evening meal of protein, vegetables and rice or potatoes.

What Willy believes makes this diet work is that Willy only gets very small portions each time.  The combinations of foods is supposed to be the secret, but Willy knows when you don't stick much in your mouth, you might lose weight. 

By the way - has anybody got some ice cream?
