Get your #CoronaRita on!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Chili’s Grill & Bar for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Willy loves a good Margarita.  It was not long ago that Willy and the Ms was at Chili's celebrating the fact that their first grand kid was on the way.  What a better way to celebrate than a great two for 20 deal and a great margarita much like the CoronaRita at Chili's .  At the time this item was not available but now that it is, I believe that Ms Willy might want to go back and celebrate again the fact that it will not be long until Willy and Mrs Willy will have that little red headed grandbaby running around the house and helping us out.

CoronaRita sm.jpg

Yes, this sounds like something that would go well with the steak on Chili's two for $20 menu and Willy likes his steak and this just sounds like a family celebration and a party.  However,  it also sounds like something that would go good with the botomless chips and hot sauce on Cinco de Mayo.  Willy is from a state that loves its celebrations and Cinco de Mayo is one of those celebrations that spells fun at Chilis.

Are you like Willy and love your Margarita so much that you want to buy it a beer? Try this. Made with Jose Cuervo Especial Tequila and Coronita. It’s Chili’s new CoronaRita Margarita!

All Willy can say is  everyone needs to come on into Chili’s and have a delicious meal to celebrate the season and your loved ones and be sure to wash it down with a new CoronaRita!  Sounds like a great Redneck tradition in the making.

Any questions.  All you rednecks raise your had and give this your all but always remember You must be 21 years or older to drink alcoholic beverages and as always, please remember to drink responsibly”

Two Man Boat

Willy bought him a small two man boat a while back so that Willy could go fishing when he wanted to.  The problem is that the boat was supposed to fit into the back of Willy's truck but it is slightly large.  Willy has been about three weeks trying to design something for the back of the truck such as a rack to carry the boat.  Everything failed.

Willy finally just leaned up the boat in the back of the truck and strapped it in.  Willy went to the lake and put the boat in the water.

Willy enjoyed.  However the boat is a little heavy and it is hard to load.  That is what is cooking with Willy today.

The Chicken Crossed the road

Willy found an article recently that told about how every day a colorful character visits a fried chicken restaurant outside Memphis and loudly announces his arrival - with a crow.
Nobody seems to know where the red rooster came from, but The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/HXYQZ1 ) reported he first showed up about three months ago and has been a daily fixture ever since at Gus' Fried Chicken in Collierville.
He's been known to cross a busy street, but most often crows from a fenced field across the street from the restaurant.
Collierville Animal Services has been trying to catch him. Shelter manager John Robinson says he doesn't want the cocky fowl to meet an untimely end at the paws of a raccoon or other predator.
Robinson said of the bird that he fears no man - or Gus.

Well, Willy wonders what is going on there.  Did the owner bring him in.  One thing about it Willy knows why that Chicken crossed the road.

Cooking up an Easter Egg

What better to cook on this Easter Weekend other than boiled eggs to be painted up as a great Easter Egg.

Nothing is more fun for Willy in early years than to cook up these eggs and then paint them with some funky colors.  This was what Willy, Wife and Daughter used to do.  It was real fun.

However, a week later it was not fun because Willy and Daughter would hide these eggs in the house.  Sometimes we would not find one of these eggs and a week later a great stink would fill the house.

Easter Egg gone astray.

Do not forget this weekend the real reason for Easter.  If you are not a believer in Jesus Christ at least give it a thought.  It could be a matter of eternal life..

Saving

Guest post written by Derick Burks

I need to figure out a way to curb my spending that won’t make me feel deprived. Every month I try to do new things to save, but I always end up reverting to my old ways. There is only so long I can go without going out with my friends or buying a new pair of shoes. I know my car is about to die, and I am nervous about it because I don’t think I can afford to take on a new payment right now. I guess I could ask my boss for a raise, but I don’t think he can afford to give me one right now. One of my girlfriends told me I could probably save if I went to http://www.cabletelevision.net/ and changed from cable to satellite TV. That is a start, but it’s not going to be enough to get me a down payment on a new car. I guess for now I just need to hope that my car lasts me a little longer and save as much as I can. I can’t make myself miserable thinking about things that may or may not happen in the future.

Arkansas Baseball

Baseball is what is cooking in Arkansas.  Arkansas thought they were great with only a couple of losses.  Then LSU took on the Hogs and the Hogs crumpled.

Why,  Who, When, Where.

What is the answer.

Maybe it was because coach Petrino was out riding his Harley Davidson and having a wreck.

Any thing to that.

Talking to a friend

Thanks to Wm Rowe

I was talking to a friend at work yesterday about her new house. She told me that one of the first things she and her husband decided to get in their new home is a home security system. She has three kids and with crime being on the rise in the area, she did not want to risk not feeling safe in their new home. It made me think about the fact that we do not have a security system in our home. When I got home last night, I decided to look online at different Home Security Systems to find one for our home. There are so many to choose from, so my husband and I will have to discuss it before we purchase one. We have two children and I think it is important for us to feel safe. There is not a lot of crime in our area, but that does not mean that the potential for crime to occur does not exist. When children are involved, I feel that you can never be too safe.

Willy wants a Logo Canopy!

Willy works at a company that likes to use logo mats. You know what Willy is talking about.  Yes, you have seen these type of mats used as trade show flooring that indicates clearly the logo of the company.  Yes,  it can easily be used if you are in a trade show as trade show carpet.  In fact Willy is working a trade show in the near future and Willy is going to take one of the great door mats that is used at the office for an entrance into the trade booth.

Another thing that Willy has not thought about is a logo canopy.  Willy has been trying to get his RVP to get some type of canopy so that it can be used on a booth or in Willy's advertising.  How cool would that be to have the mat and the canopy with Willy's company logo.  This would be the ultimate.

I guess what Willy is saying that this type of recognition for a company would be pretty cool and if a company needs logo recognition then this would be something that could be figured out.  These things are used for offices, retail stores and outlets and could be used by Willy and all his redneck friends.

Chicken Taco Salad

Ms Willy is getting good at the quick fixes in the evening.   She does not want to spend long cooking because she is an accountant and is putting lots of long hours as they move to tax season.  One of the dishes that she does that is really good is one that we call Chicken Taco salad.

Simply it is:
Pre cooked diced chicken - heated in a skillet with some canned beans - left over rice- and anything else in the refrigerator from the weekend that looks like it fits.  She throws into this as she heats it up with some mexican spices.

Then she cuts up lettuce, tomatoes, avocado and crushed taco chips.  Throws all of this in a bowl adds catalina dressing and some salsa.

Supper is done.

That is what was cooking tonight and Willy was happy.

Walgreens Prescription Savings Club

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Walgreens for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Things like this deal between Walgreens and Express Script ticks Willy off.  It sounds like someone is trying to cook up a problem for Walgreens when they do not deserve  it. If you are a customer or want to be a customer of Walgreens you should know the rest of the story and here it is.

For the past year, Walgreens has negotiated with Express Scripts for a new contract to continue as part of its pharmacy provider network. Those negotiations were unsuccessful, and the contract expired on Dec. 31. As a result, Walgreens is no longer part of Express Scripts’ pharmacy provider network as of Jan. 1, 2012. This includes all Walgreens pharmacies nationwide and Duane Reade pharmacies in the New York City area.

This situation of forcing pharmacy patients to go elsewhere to use their in-network pharmacy benefits was unnecessary. Express Scripts’ actions are causing disruption with no significant benefit to patients or their health plan. Patients covered by an Express Scripts plan now find themselves not only having to change their pharmacists, but many are having to drive farther to get prescriptions filled at pharmacies with less convenient hours for their hectic schedules. Walgreens offers more 24-hour and drive-thru pharmacies than any other pharmacy in the country.

And patients are not seeing their costs go down in exchange for the increased hassle they’re being subject to. It’s all pain with no gain.

Avoiding disruption and keeping costs flat
During negotiations, Walgreens offered to hold rates for a new contract flat and did not seek an increase in rates. The response from Express Scripts was to insist on being able to unilaterally define contract terms, such as what does and does not constitute a brand and generic drug. Express Scripts also proposed to slash Walgreens reimbursement rates to levels below the industry average cost to provide each prescription.

Express Scripts itself has stated that clients will not see any significant savings from excluding Walgreens from its network. In fact, costs may even go up without Walgreens because we offer competitive pricing, additional savings by dispensing less expensive generic drugs more often than other pharmacies, and savings through 90-day supplies of medications at our retail pharmacies versus three, 30-day refills.

Express Scripts could offer substantial savings to its clients by promoting 90-day refills at retail pharmacies, but it conflicts with its own mail order 90-day prescription business that it profits from. In addition, while profits per prescription among retail pharmacies have been flat or declining in recent years, Express Scripts’ profits have grown at a rate more than two times the average of peers in health care.

Express Scripts puts America’s military in the middle
One of Express Scripts’ clients is Tricare, which is the health and prescription drug program for America’s military service men and women. During negotiations, Walgreens took the unprecedented step of offering Express Scripts an ironclad guarantee that Walgreens prices would match or beat the average costs per adjusted prescription of all other pharmacies in the Tricare network.  Walgreens did this in an effort to prevent our country’s military personnel from being caught in the middle. Walgreens also offered to contract separately with Express Scripts for Tricare from other Express Scripts commercial business, but these offers were rejected. Express Scripts continues to refuse to negotiate a separate contract for the benefit of the Tricare program and its beneficiaries.

What this means for Walgreens patients
Many patients under an Express Scripts plan have used Walgreens pharmacies for years and have a personal relationship with their Walgreens pharmacist. In an effort to minimize their disruption and inconvenience, Walgreens unveiled a comprehensive national effort to make this transition as smooth as possible and is doing all it can to help patients continue to use Walgreens when possible, or take care of them as they are forced to leave Walgreens in order to use their in-network coverage.

Only patients with certain prescription insurance plans managed by Express Scripts are impacted. It is best to check with your local Walgreens pharmacist to find out for sure if you’re impacted. Patients also can check the back of their prescription insurance card – if it has Express Scripts’ name there, then they may be affected. If it doesn’t say Express Scripts, then they are not affected.

Among the steps Walgreens is taking to minimize the disruption is offering a special discount on annual membership for Walgreens Prescription Savings Club. An individual can join during a special January promotion for only $5, or $10 for a family membership, and receive savings on more than 8,000 brand name and all generic medications. More than 400 generics are available with a three-month supply for less than $1 a week. Regular annual membership is $20 for an individual and $35 for a family.

Express Scripts is a health care system middleman
Express Scripts acts as a middleman between pharmacies providing the health care service and employers and health plans who pay for the medications. Because Express Scripts is the middleman, most payers don’t see the rates Express Scripts pays to Walgreens. They only know what they pay Express Scripts. When they do see what Walgreens is paid, many health plans and employers are making decisions to continue to ensure access to Walgreens because they find our prices to be competitive and believe that we can lower overall health care costs.

Express Scripts continues to gain financially from its position as a middleman as its profits have grown at a rate more than two times the average of peers in health care. Historically brokers in a marketplace take a percentage of the cost of a product for putting the buyer and seller in contact.  In Express Scripts’ case, the broker is growing profits faster than the provider of the service.  When the middleman is more profitable than the providers, the relationship is out of balance.

Beyond the contract issues, this issue between Express Scripts and Walgreens is really about the value of your local community pharmacy. Express Scripts wants customers to use their own mail order pharmacy business instead of your community pharmacy whenever possible. This could threaten all community drugstores in your area. Remember, community pharmacies are a valuable presence in your neighborhood when you need a pain medication as you leave the emergency room at 2 a.m., or need a flu shot and haven’t been able to get to the doctor’s office. Community pharmacies are often the first point of entry for many people into the health care system, and the value they provide by lowering overall health care costs should be recognized by Express Scripts.

Employers want Walgreens in their pharmacy network
A Walgreens proprietary survey of 823 executives and managers who are key decision makers for pharmacy benefit decisions or provide input found that 82 percent of employers said that they would not exclude Walgreens for less than 5 percent savings on their total pharmacy spend. Sixty percent of employers would not exclude Walgreens for less than 10 percent savings, and 21 percent would not exclude Walgreens from their network regardless of the amount of savings. These findings on employer attitudes are consistent with recent research published by several leading equity research analysts.

Employers value having Walgreens as a pharmacy option for their employees, but Express Scripts wants to take that choice away.

Willy knows that you can get more information on this by following Walgreens on Twitter or Walgreens on Facebook

That is what is cooking with Willy.

Fried Cabbage Texas Style

Ingredients:
1--head cabbage, thinly sliced
1--teaspoon sugar
6--slices bacon (I just used bacon grease, because I thinly sliced ham into mine)
5--tablespoons corn bread mix
1--small onion, chopped
3--cloves garlic, chopped
2--fresh jalapenos chopped (you can take out the seeds, I didn't)

Directions:
Put shredded cabbage into large bowl, and sprinkle sugar over it. This will remove the excess water from the cabbage. Cook bacon in a large skillet, until browned. Drain and crumble, and set aside. Reserve grease in skillet.Sprinkle cornbread mix over cabbage and mix thorougly, coating cabbage. Saute onions, garlic, jalapeno peppers and ham in skillet. Add cabbage, and saute until it starts to cook down, then add about a cup of water, put a lid on it and let it cook and finish wilting down. You can then sprinkle the bacon over the top and serve. I didn't do the bacon. Instead, I just used a couple of large tablespoons of bacon grease to saute everything in, and added thinly sliced ham to saute into it. You can just use the bacon sprinkled over the top if you want to. You can cut down on the jalapenos if you think that it will be too spicy. Also, taking out the seeds will make it less spicy.

Girlfriend doesn't get me

The Author of this post is Darius Boone

I am starting to wonder about my girlfriend and not in a good way. We have been dating for six months and I don’t think she understands me. I hate to say it, but she just seems concerned with herself. I keep hoping it is just me misreading her, but I am starting to wonder. The other day she was trying to help me save some money. And while the thought seems nice, the things she wanted me to cut back on were the things I love. I thought I should cut back on my entertainment expenses such as eating out and movies. Of course that would mean less dates for her, so she suggested cutting back on my Direct tv channels. Seriously!? That seems like the worst idea ever. Why would I spend more money seeing a movie one time than I would to see twenty different movies whenever I want. I think her suggestion might have been a little in her favor. I don’t blame here because every girl wants to go on big dates, but she has to understand that right now I can’t afford that.
