Beer‐Battered Onion Rings–Willy Style

1 12 oz bottle of traditional beer of your choice.
(reserve another bottle to drink as you prepare the mix)
2 cups of all‐purpose flour
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of black pepper – fresh ground if possible.
3 large onions, sliced into rings –
(Vidalia or TAM1010 is preferred by Willy)
Vegetable oil – in an amount to immerse rings in your pot or pan.

Combine and mix flour, eggs, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
Slowly add ONE bottle of beer to the mixture, until a thick batter forms.

Caution!
This recipe calls for deep‐frying. Always use extreme caution when working with hot oil!

Add the oil to the pan and turn the burner to a medium/high heat. Dip the sliced rings of onion into the beer batter and add to the hot oil. Cook for about 30 seconds and flip to brown the other side.
Remove the onion ring(s) from the oil and place in a container with a paper towel to soak up any excessive oil.

Enjoy!

Mail Boxes in America

What do you know about blomus mailboxes?  What do you know about stainless steel mailboxes?  Do you know anything about these things?  Well each of these are very modern mailboxes that will set your home or office up as one of distinction.  These mailboxes will say “you run a class act”.

Why do I say this about these mailboxes?  Well, I say this because I notice very often what type of mailboxes are in front of houses in different areas or neighborhoods.  The type of mailbox that is present will often say that the neighborhood or the house or the business is very progressive and very modern or the mailbox can say that this place is not successful or not with the modern era.

So, do you want people to drive up to your house or business and talk about how nice and appealing your place is?  If you do you should make sure that you have a mailbox in front of your house or business that says success.

If you do these things you should be proud.  This is my thoughts for now.

Willy the Book Publisher

Willy is trying something new.  In researching the new Kindle that Willy bought for his wife for Christmas, Willy discovered that a book for Kindle does not have to have all of the beautiful hardcovers and the illustrations, it is best just to have content.

Willy realized that he had a lot of recipes that  had been accumulated over the past few years along with a little humor to go with them.  All Willy had to do was get these in an acceptable form and he could publish a book.

This lead Willy to Publishing Kindle books under Hillbilly Willy Productions.   The first two books are Hillbilly Willy Smoking Meat Course and Hillbilly Willys Deserts.

If you have a Kindle and are interested in a couple of short books that you can put on your Kindle and have available then check these out.

Willy would appreciate it.

Black Friday 2010 Deals

Content by Mac Kline

Black Friday 2010 was an event filled morning for me! This year I decided to narrow it down to the stores with the absolute best deals that I actually needed. I narrowed it down to Target and Kohls. This was also convenient because I live just a few blocks away from both stores. I prepared a list a few days before Black Friday so that I would have an actual game plan, and so that I would not waste time looking at things I did not need. The main thing that I wanted to accomplish was to buy all my two year old son's Christmas presents. All of the toys at Kohls were 50% off, plus I had an additional 15% off coupon to make the deals even sweeter! I hit Target first at 5 am. It was crazy, but I expected that! The main thing that I wanted at Target was a Pre-lit Christmas tree for $25. There were only two left, so I grabbed it as fast as I could. The lines moved faster than I thought. I ended up only having to wait about thirty minutes. Next I headed to Kohls. It was even crazier than Target. With my list in hand, I headed in! I found all the toys I wanted, plus my best deal of the day. I bought a Black and Decker digital coffee maker for $19.99, plus I had the 15% off coupon. What made the deal even better is that there is a $10 rebate for this product! So I ended up paying six dollars and some change for an awesome coffee maker! After Kohls, I was exhausted, so I came home and curled up on my comfy couch to watch my Directtv package deals.

  • 1/4 pound gorgonzola cheese,crumbled
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 1 1/2 pounds flank steak
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 pounds large asparagus, trimmed

Toss the asparagus with the remaining 1 teaspoon barbecue seasoning mix and 1 tablespoon olive oil; add salt and pepper to taste. Cook the asparagus in a grill pan over medium heat until tender, turning once, about 6 minutes total. Reserve 4 stalks for the sushi.
Reserve a quarter of the steak for the sushi; cut the rest into -inch-thick slices. Top with the gorgonzola cream sauce, reserving about 1/2 cup for sushi, and serve with the asparagus and some barbecue butter.

Skiing - Bon Fires - and Hot Chocolate make a party

What could be be better than for Willy to have a guest host writing about bon fires and cooking hot chocolate.  Hope you don’t mind Willy using an occasional guest host. – Enjoy and 10-4 Willy.

----------------------------------
Guest written by our friend Trent Horton

The winter time is always full of activities in the snow and our family has a tradition that when it snows we all get together and build a fire, make hot chocolate and get the quads out. There is a hill not far away that is a great place to go skiing, snowboarding and sledding. We pack up all of our gear on the quads, including the dog, to make it easier to carry all of the things we will need and then set the home alarm system (click) before we head out for a day of fun.

The only problem with the place we go sledding and skiing at is, once you get to the bottom, it is a hike to the top. The quads are used to carry everyone back to the top of the hill by loading them up on an old toboggan and pulling them back up the hill so they can slide down the hill over and over again. The bon fire is nice to keep everyone warm and the hot chocolate just makes it a special day that everyone enjoys and looks forward to anytime they see the snow start to fall. Everyone gets anxious to find out if this weekend will be the sledding party weekend.

Pecan Snowball Cookies

Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose or cake flour pecan-snowball-cookies
  • 1 1/2 cups pecans, finely chopped
  • 2-3 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 pound butter (at room temperature)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar, to coat (about 1 cup)
Method
1 Preheat the oven to 300°F and prepare a large cookie sheet.
2 Mix all the dry ingredients (flour, walnuts, salt, sugar) in a large bowl. Add the vanilla extract. Add the butter in little pieces, and combine everything together with your (clean!) hands until the mixture looks like a coarse meal with nut bits in it. Form the dough into small balls no larger than a walnut and place on the cookie sheet, spaced at least an inch apart from each other.
3 Bake for 35 minutes. When they are still warm, but cool enough to touch, roll the cookies in some powdered sugar. Set aside on a rack to cool completely. When cool, dust again in powdered sugar.
Makes about 20 cookies.

Pulse Oximeter?

Are you familiar with a pulse oximeter?  Are you familiar with Concord Health Supply?  Well, if you are like willy and know nothing about either one of these and are now curious, maybe you should go check it out. This is what Willy does because not only does Willy cook but Willy likes to learn about the things that can better his health.

This will give you the opportunity to test your search ability and it will also help you to find out that there are great health supply websites that can get you the right supplies that you need in a timely manner.  That is what you will find out there.

So, if curiosity has you now and if you are like Willy and need to know when you get curious, then you need to get online and check this out.  It is very interesting and it will help you learn what to do about some health issues that you are your friends might have.

These are my thoughts for now.

Interactive Meat Case

Willy likes to cook and Willy is a fan of beefitswhatsfordinner.com

On that site Willy has found an neat interactive tool that allows the user to select a certain section of the animal and check out the cuts of meat that comes from that area or that type of meat desired.  The area is called an interactive meat case.

Check out the site and check out the cut that you want for supper.  This is kind of interesting to Willy.  Maybe you will like it or not.

100diets.com–Weight Loss Solutions

Ok, it is obvious that Willy likes to cook and if you could see Willy it is also obvious that Willy likes to eat.  It is a shame the something that is so satisfying as eating good food can mess up the body so bad.

This is where many people say that if you can’t do it alone that you might want to think about the use of diet pills .  If this is on your mind than it might be the best to make sure that you know about the best diet pills that are out there and to make sure that these pills that are noted as weight loss diet pills are ok to take and that they will not do harm to your body in the long term.  There are many things out there and many are ok and good to take.

So if you are like Willy and you need some help with your weight loss then this is something that you might want to check out.  This is my thoughts for now and hope this helps you make a decision.

It's Over

Well the great feast day is over.  I have feasted on great Turkey, Ham, Dressing, Sweet Potatoes, Rolls, Pecan Pie and Cranberry dressing.  I am loaded and it was good.

However, today I weighed less than I have in months.  How much do you reckon this will add to the thighs as someone wrote earlier today.

May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
...And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!

Memories of Lockers

Mention the word locker and it brings back memories of school.  Yes, school where everything evolved around the School Lockers, the Gym Lockers or the Locker of your girlfriend.  Yes, you see what I am talking about.  It was around the school locker that many people met their girlfriend.  It may have been that gym locker that held the uniform that you wore when you were that star athlete holds great memories.  It may have been and old wood locker or it might have been a bright shiny steel locker but regardless of size or type it held many memories.

Well, if you are in need of any of these types of lockers, whether it be gym lockers, school lockers, wood lockers or any types of lockers then maybe you need to go out to the internet and do what I would do and find a reputable company with Lockers for sale

Yes, that is the way that I would search for this product.  I can not think of a better way into days electronic age to find the best company and the best prices than to go to the internet.  There is where you would probably find out that morelockers.com would be your place to go.

That is my thoughts for now.

Cowboy Willy

I started a new blog a while back just for fun and is just now deciding to promote it a little and see how it goes.  I am dedicating this blog to simple quips, sayings, quotes, short jokes and in short simplicity.

The thing that I will try to do is to refrain from posting long posts advertising for others.  I will have some google ads and some links to others in his quips, and quotes but will not be so abrupt as it is in his other blogs.

So if you want to get a tidbit of information, fun, quote or quip I am going to try to provide that about three times a week.  If you have good info on your site I might steal some of these occasionally.  If I do this you will also find a link back to your website on CowboyWillys links page.

Come join him by clicking on the Cowboy Willy link here or the picture on the top right.  While you are there if you were to click on the ad that shows it would not hurt myu feelings because contrary to popular opinion, I try to at least make enough money from blogging to pay for his habits.

Cheap Cable TV Deals

Willy likes to cook and Willy likes to watch TV while he cooks.  Willy thought he was pretty much set on what cable service or TV service that he would always use.  However, just recently Willy began to think that there might be better deals out there for Willy to use for his services.

Lets see, what is the best way for Willy to decide who has the best Cable TV Deals?  Can Willy also package his cable with his High Speed Internet?  What  Internet Service Providers are in Willy's area?  Well, Willy is doing what he often and that is to search the internet for the answers.

Willy finds that Ezisp.info has a website that is designed to give you the great deals that are out there in the provider areas along with the services and qualities that each provide.  This site gives you the opportunity to compare those services and qualities to get the best deal for what you need in your area.  If you are looking for cable Internet access, DSL, and dial up providers then you might want to look at this site and get the information that you need.

Check it out.

XOXO Gossip Girl

Willy Welcomes another guest post to Cooking with Willy.
-----------------------

Guest post written by Lauren Sparks

Back a few years ago, when the TV show Gossip Girl started coming on, I had never heard of the books before but it looked great. It was about young, rich attractive people with all kinds of problems, so of course it would make for great TV watching. I started watching it from episode oen and have been a pretty dedicated fan ever since then.

I've also been buying all of the seasons fo the Gossip Girls DVDs with my Get Clear Wireless Internet. But then I also decided that I would give the books a try, so I ordered all the ones that were out in the Gossip Girl series too.

Well, the Gossip Girl books sure haven't disappointed so far and it's pretty funny now to see how they changed the characters from the books to the TV show. For one thing, DanÕs character in the book seems a little cooler and less nerdy than when he did at the beginning of the TV series. But I think that they were true enough to their main characteristics that it works really well.

Willy's Quick Egg Sandwich

Willy sometimes likes to eat and cook - plain and simple.

Last night Willy wanted supper (that is what you eat in the evening when you do not have a date) and Willy wanted it simple.  Here is what Willy did.

Put two pieces of bread in a skillet with light butter on them and toast lightly on both sides.

Take the bread out of the skillet and put in small amount of butter.  Break a nice big egg in the skillet and cook breaking the yellow so that it cooks solid.

While egg is cooking put light miracle whip on one side of bread.   Lay the other side on top of the egg and let it melt together with the piece of cheese that you have put on the bread.

Scoop the bread and egg off the skillet with a spatula and put it with the other side.

Eat and enjoy.  --- For a little spice add some hot sauce.

Willy Cooks and Life is Good.

When Willy cooks Willy spends a lot of time in the kitchen and Willy likes the things that make his cooking easy, fun and exciting.  What items is it that can make cooking fit that mode.  Well, it is having a great kitchen and the right tools.  These things can be found across the web at various places.  Yes, Willy likes to have a great butcher block center to the kitchen and Willy also likes to have great stainless steel products along with a great stainless utility sinks in the kitchen.

So there you have it a description of a few of the things that Willy thinks makes for a great kitchen for great cooking.  Thes things allows Willy to be the great cook that he is.  Yes, Willy is a great cook.  Then at the end of the day when the cooking is done Willy likes to rest.   Yes, Willy likes to rest because he is very tired.

Where does Willy like to rest and how does Willy like to rest?  Well, Willy goes to the patio at the end of the day and goes and sets with Mrs. Willy in their great looking Adirondack chairs.  Life is good.   You can see why when you hear all that Willy has had to say.

What's For Supper Grandpa

Greasy Burger with some greasy fries
Some Bluebell Ice cream
On top of big old cherry pie.
Not so healthy But very good.
Why do I like it - because it is food!

Weekend Camping Trip

Willy has a guest Writer today - Enjoy

Thanks for the article from Phillip Weaver

A few weeks ago, my boyfriend and I took a camping trip. I hate to admit that I was a little hesitant before going. I'm not exactly great when it comes to living outdoors. I need a shower and electricity. Maybe even a blow dryer or hair straightener. My boyfriend kind of talked me into going. But I guess it wasn't all that bad. I made sure to pack a lot of water and hand sanitizer. We packed our bags and got going. Before I left to go camping, I set my home security alarm from BEST HOME SECURITY.

We decided to go camping in the Adirondack Mountains. It was a lot of fun, but definitely very cold. It was a good thing I packed a lot of sweaters and jackets! The first day there I was a little hesitant on what the night would bring. The Adirondacks are notorious for having hundreds, maybe even thousands, of wildlife roaming around the vast woodland areas. And we happened to be camping right in the middle of the woods, right off of a hiking trail. When night came, I made good use of all of the flashlights and candles that I could possibly get my hands on. And as I continued to relax, I realized that the only predator around us was the cold, night air. I woke up in the morning and made a promise to go camping again. But maybe when the weather gets warmer.

No Political Ads

Maybe after tomorrow Willy can get away from the gripping political ads on television and get back to cooking.  You tell Willy that you don't have trouble getting away from the television.  Tell me that you are not sitting there glued to the next ad trying to know "WHO APPROVES THIS AD"

Tell Willy that you are not trying real hard to see what one politician has to say about the other one.  Yes, it is intriguing to see that an ad says nothing about what I can do but says all about what they did wrong.

Willy just can't get away from those ads because they are so great.

Thanksgiving Dinner - My Favorite Fall Activity

Guest post from: Steve Delaney

I love Thanksgiving. It's not just about the food, but the savings. You see, I am a wealthy trust fund baby who inherited a fortune from my now deceased aunt, and am rich beyond your wildest dreams and mine. However, I am also a frugal man, a penny pincher if you will, and I like to save money whenever I can. This is why I love Thanksgiving, because I can always find a free dinner somewhere from some fool who is feeding the homeless with premium turkeys donated by bigger fools.

What I do is dress up in makeup and a disheveled costume to simulate the look of being homeless. While most of my clothes are sartorial splendor, this particular piece was taken off the set of a local production of Oliver Twist. I stole it, of course, and then proceeded to use it to go to the local ghetto and reap the rewards of a free Thanksgiving dinner. I tried very hard to hold in my laughter as I feasted upon the food as no one was the wiser. In fact, I made a vital mistake, forgetting to remove my expensive Swiss watch from my person, yet no one was the wiser. The dinner was a success. Of course, I wouldn't think about leaving the home without setting my home security alarm from www.HOMEALARMEXPERT.com, as my valuables are worth millions.

Tri Tip - Hot and Ready

Willy is fascinated with Tri Tip roast or steak or a bottom Sirloin Roast or what every you call it.  Willy has heard that these are great to cook and great to eat.  The problem is that Willy is having trouble finding this cut of meat.

Tell Willy what you might do with this cut of meat.  Also let Willy know if you can find this in your local meat market.  This thing cooked up as good, hot meat has to be awesome.  If you can find this red meat, smoking hot and just a little blood red then it has to be good.

Even women like this hot red meat and know that it is good when you can poke it and it almost squeals back at you.  If this red hot meat is cooked this way then it has to be good stuff and ready for any great cookout.

Walden University is Cooking up Some Real Education.

How many of you put down your cookbooks to read The Chronicle  of Hgher Education.  This is the document where you could read about Walden University and all there is to know about this very good University.  You can read about all that this University has to offer to the full time and part time student and those looking to further their education.

Yes, the question is whether or not you are wanting to further your education and whether or not this is the University for you.  How do you find this out.  I would guess that you would want to go to their site and check it out.

So the full deal is that those who are looking for that right education at the right place know where they can look.  Where is this that they would want to look to and study?  Well, I guess that would be that thy could look to Walden University and they could find out about that University at The Chronicle of Higher Education.

That is what is cooking on the education front with Willy.

Recrue Media - Retargeting Advertising!

Willy is cooking up some idea about retargeting companies.  The first thing that Willy has to figure out is what is retargeting? For this information willy did some research and he found Recrue Media.  What Willy found out is that Recrue Media is an online retargeting company.

Willy, through his research found that Recrue Media's key to successful online retargeting advertising is the largest audience reach with a highly relevant message. With over 90% of US Internet users reached by Recrue Media, advertisers are assured the widest reach of websites for their banner ads.

So, in short retargeting is simply  targeting advertising as someone who has already been at your site because they have an interest.  You find these people and then you go to them with targeted advertising.  Sounds pretty in depth, right.  Well, this is pretty in depth stuff and Willy thinks it is a good idea.

Willy needs to do some more research on this.

Cooking up the Rangers.

Willy believes that the Texas Rangers are cooking up a win in the World series.  They are playing the San Francisco Giants in the World Series starting this Wednesday and they are going to cook up a win.

What is their recipe for a win.  Start with Cliff Lee and add some strong bats and then some great outfielding.

Will this cook up a win?  Willy believes it will.

What do you think.

Mason Technologies - Cooking up great Cable Installation!

What is Willy cooking today.  Well, today willy is cooking up the idea that the method and the people used for your  cabling installation is very important.   What is Willy talking about.  Well Willy is talking about those people that you use to install the network data cabling, telephone, voice and communications cables for many national companies and for thousands of locations.

The company that you might want to consider if you have that need for fiber optic installation, a need for data cabling installers or a good electrical contractor, would be Mason Technologies.  Why would you use them.  Well, they are a national company that can do this type of work for just about any business and just about any where.  This company is one that can install in an entire building and on multiple floors.  They can do just about whatever you need when it comes to cabling installation.

So, you see that even though willy talks about Cooking in most cases, Willy has had bad experiences in his former life of technology with cable installations.  Willy knows that it is important to get the best and this company says that is what they are.
